The most familiar and widespread goose in North America,
the Canada Goose can be found in all kinds of water all across
the continent, from the tundra to the Gulf Coast. Geese eat a variety
of plant species and parts, especially grasses, sedges, grain,

Giraffes' favorite food is the new leaves and twigs of the acacia tree. Giraffes can go a long time without drinking, instead getting water from the leaves they eat.

The Tualatin River runs through a very small community where I grew up. The river brought fishermen from all over the valley each summer, but it also entertained children in the area all year long. Wonderful swimming holes, crawdads, samonberries, and if you were lucky a nice trout. If you followed the river up into the woods you would find the old swimming holes at Little and Lee Falls above Cherry Grove Oregon. |

It was not until the mountain men made their way west, trapping and hunting for the pelt trade, that the cougar received a more worthy name from the white man--the mountain lion. Lithe and agile, the cougar unfailingly moves with grace. Their energy is limited by lung capacity to brief, forty-mile-an-hour sprints, so the lion must get to within striking range without startling the prey. A mountain lion can weigh from 180 to 200 pounds. |

A mother bear will remain with her young for 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 years.
Although not normally aggressive, all bears should be avioded if possible, especially those with young or while feeding. |

The Kodiak bear has lived separately on Kodiak Island in Southwestern Alaska for thousands of years with no interbreeding with other populations. These coastal bears have more animal protein in their diet, achieve larger size, and have slight differences in coloration. Kodiak bears can grow to 10 feet long and weigh over 1,000 lbs. |

Wolves are big game hunters. After a howling chorus, the pack will leave the den for the hunt. Wolves can run 40 miles an hour and can easily cover 50 miles a day. By smell alone, they can locate pack members or enemies. |
